Committee Duties and Assignments 2009 - 2010
The Committee on Club Meetings and Administration is responsible for providing the most
effective club meeting possible. Areas of focus should include the club meeting program, physical, reception, fellowship, and
inter-club relations, as well as other areas that the committee may deem pertinent.
- 1. See that the room is set-up for every meeting. Will need to arrive early. Get out badge box, hook up podium, display flag, etc.
- 2. Greet members and guests.
- 3. Select a person to lead the prayer, pledge of allegiance and song for each meeting and see that the President is aware of who has been selected. May want to do this a month at a time in advance.
- 4. Plan an inter-club visitation schedule that includes making one visit each month during the year to include all clubs in our district.
- 5. Plan and encourage attendance at annual banquet in October, 2009.
- 6. Meet each month to evaluate activities of your committee and revise duties as needed, always looking for ideas to make the club meeting interesting, efficient and worth the time of our members.
- 7. With the Secretary, report monthly on those who have perfect attendance and are actively participating in club activities.
- 8. Report on each interclub that was visited.

The Committee on Community Services should implement projects on the arts, business affairs,
citizenship, civic improvement, community beautification, conservation, health, international understanding, literacy,
public affairs, safety, or help for senior citizens and disabled persons. Popular projects include Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels,
issues forums, and youth exchange.
- 1. Attend meetings of Chamber of Commerce, Madison County Health Coalition, and other organizations that we have joined.
- 2. Continue Highway Litter Pick-up project.
- 3. Conduct food drive for Food Pantry among members.
- 4. Coordinate assistance with parking and gate collections as community service project at Madison County Fair and Huntsville Rodeo
- 5. Plant flowers and keep-up Welcome to Huntsville Sign

- 6. Assist in other special community service projects, such as car seat safety for kids, etc.
- 7. Assist in flu clinics, and other community service projects approved by the Board of Directors.
Members: Alvin Lievsay, Chair; Will Jones, Tom Buchanan, Heath Bradley, David Pemberton.
The Committee on Finance and Fund Raising is responsible for preparing a budget of estimated income and expenses
for submission to the board of directors, as well as any recommendations it may have on
financial matters of the club. It is also responsible for securing the funds necessary
to meet budget requirements.
- 1. Coordinate and plan Thanksgiving Dinner, Fruit Sales, and Mother's Day Dinner.
- 2. Prepare annual budget.
- 3. Recommend other fund raising efforts to the Board of Directors.
Members: Bob Rawson,Chair; Richard Gillham, Tom Wiles, Anna Woodbridge.
The Committee on Membership Growth, Human and Spiritual Values, and Education
should implement projects that support spiritual development, provide human companionship
and comfort, or offer counseling and guidance. Projects can encourage interfaith and
interdenominational religious activity, such as prayer, but should not support a
specific religious sect. Should strive to increase membership according to the
standards provided in the bylaws. The committee should consider all Membership
Information Forms and submit its recommendations to the board of directors.
The committee should also develop an effective orientation and induction ceremony for
new members and promote regular attendance by all members at club meetings.
Popular projects include prayer breakfasts, layman of the year awards, transportation to
religious services, visits to nursing homes, and support of grief counseling.
- 1. Compose a prayer list to be published in each edition of the Huntsville Kiwanian
- 2. Announce additions at each club meeting
- 3. Recognize club members who are having birthdays or club anniversaries at each meeting and present small gift or other token.
- 4. Investigate honoring local ministers at a regular club meeting - Everyone invites their minister - perhaps a special prayer breakfast
- 5. Meet and compose a list of potential members and contact them.
- 6. Develop an orientation and induction ceremony for new members
- 7. Give at least two programs during the year to Educate members about not only our local Kiwanis Club but the International organization as well
- 8. Provide members with information for perspective members.
- 9. Consulting with the President, assign all new members to committees
- 10. Mail cards, send flowers, and thank you notes as appropriate.

The Committee on Public Relations is responsible for
helping to ensure that the public receives, through the media and other means,
the Objects, goals, programs, and achievements of Kiwanis International and the club.
- 1. Submit at least 1 article per month to Madison County Record and/or White River News.
- 2. Publish Club Newsletter - increase circulation.
- 3. Evaluate Web Site - See that it is current and relevant.
- 4. Create a brochure about the local club for use in recruiting new members and educating the public about Kiwanis
- 5. Think of other ideas to increase the visibility of this club.
Members: Sumner Brashears, Chair;Kevin Hatfield, Jerry Doll, Elaine Chaudoin.
The Committee on Sponsored Programs
shall devise ways and means to establish and support K-Kids clubs in
elementary schools, Builders Clubs in junior high or middle school,
Key Clubs in high schools, and Circle K Clubs in the universities and colleges,
and should encourage and promote the activities of all Aktion clubs, K-Kids,
Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K clubs sponsored by the club.
The committee should include the Kiwanis club advisors to sponsored Circle K,
Key Club, Builders Club, K-Kids and Aktion club.
- 1. Support and visit HHS Key Club; Involve Key Club in Club activities.
- 2. Plan annual Key Club Breakfast or modify to include a certain number of Key Club members each month.
- 3. Coordinate and plan Kiwanis Kids Day at the Huntsville Rodeo.
- 4. Coordinate and assist with the Kids Shopping Spree at Christmas.
- 5. Coordinate and select all scholarship recipients whether local or district scholarhips.
Members: Anthony Sevcik, Chair; Eddie Torix, Harry Chaple, Pat Chaple, Charlie Berry, Earlene England.
The Committee on Young Children: Priority One and Youth Services
should implement projects to children, prenatal through age five as well as sponsor and
promote other youth oriented programs. Projects can address maternal and child health,
child care, early development, nutrition, parenting education and support, advocacy,
pediatric trauma, or safety. Should implement projects that address school-aged youth.
Projects can address academics, advocacy, career exploration, character education and
citizenship, club activities, health, hobbies, leadership development,
literacy, mentoring, prevention of drug abuse, or sports and recreation.
Popular projects include sponsoring sports teams, Terrific Kids, Bring-Up Grades,
Hugh O'Brian Youth leadership seminars, scholarships, mentoring, and career days. Also,encouraging literacy,
assisting child care and Head Start programs, distributing the home-safety checklist,
educating the public about Shaken Baby Syndrome, and building or repairing playgrounds.
- 1. Assist in Immunization and physicals for pre-school children.
- 2. Investigate needs of local Head Start Program.
- 3. Sponsor and attend Terrific Kids Program at Watson Primary School.
- 4. Support other youth oriented organizations.
- 5. Recruit members to assist with "The Body Walk" program at the Intermediate School
- 6. Investigate the possibility of starting a BUG program in the 3rd or 4th grades.
